Are you involved in a neighborhood organization, home owners association, church group where many of your members are boomers and seniors?
There is a huge national movement of boomers and seniors looking for a plan to live in their own homes for as long as they can. The Villages Network movement is volunteer neighbors and friends forming a network to help each other with simple chores, transportation and socializing. Volunteers here in Clark County are looking to start a village. Go to www.villagesclarkcounty.org for more information, www.VillagesNW.org and Meetup/Aging in Place for the upcoming meeting dates and locations. The next planning meeting is scheduled for Saturday January 16, 2016, 1:00 pm, Vancouver Library (downtown). The meeting is open to all individuals interested in finding out more about setting up a village.
At CAMP, we want to educate people about healthy aging, that boomers can lead vital, vibrant lives well into their 80s, 90s and beyond. The Villages Network concept is an excellent opportunity to keep our aging population socially engaged, maintaining their daily routines, keeping their homes safe and organized, and getting the transportation to doctors appointments and socializing opportunities that will help maintain a high quality of life.
